American Crossword Puzzle Tournament
I was back in Stamford once again to see how fast of a “fast crossword solver” I am. My score improved over last year, but my place did not:
2024: 9585, 287th —> 2025: 9815, 365th
Too many sweats showing up to the tourney these days, smh. Met a ton of real interesting folks along the way though, like Adam - who makes plenty of crosswords, but also runs a personal music review blog called “Full Moon Albums”. Some stellar recs in there, like his latest of the new YHWH Nailgun album.
Learning Synths
This Ableton site has been addictive to tinker with. I had a pretty good idea of how synths worked, but nothing can beat a hands-on demo like this. Even if you’ve never touched one in your life, I promise this intro will make it seem almost too easy.
Recent Rotation
Some fresh sick nasty from EPROM. Harsh acid, jungle breaks, and good ol’ fashioned experimental bass.
It started with only a couple of tracks off of Panda Bear’s new album making it on my frequent rotation; but eventually I just started putting on the entire album. Sinister Grift comfortably slithers in - plush, sedative, and angelic. Top tracks: 2, 7, 10
